Tender is the Slow Food Done Fast

July 09, 2014

It’s getting easier and easier to eat fresh, healthy, sustainable and chef-inspired, dishes in Orange County, especially today with the opening of Tender Greens at University Center In Irvine, in the former Britta’s Café spot. (There's also one that opened at Irvine Spectrum several years ago.)

Tender Greens, the go to eatery for affordable farm-to-fork cuisine serves signature menu items such as salads, sandwiches, hot plates, soups and house made pastries, as well as daily specials posted online inspired by the farmer’s market and seasonal ingredients.

Fresh picked produce comes from Scarborough Farms in Oxnard and Orange County’s first hydroponic vertical farm, Alegria Farms. The newest menu addition is a falafel salad made with red little gem lettuce, tomato, cucumber, parsley, red onion, lemon, yogurt and olive oil.

Craft beer enthusiasts can choose from beers on tap from local breweries including Cismontane Brewing Co., Saint Archer Brewing, Strand Brewing Co., Bootlegger’s Brewery, Hangar 24 and Valiant Brewing Co.

Other options for quenching your thirst include Maine Root natural soda on tap, Health-Ade Kombucha, Kean Coffee, Mighty Leaf Tea and wine by the glass and carafe alongside Tender Greens’ signature house made mint lemonade, iced tea and agua fresca drinks.

Open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
