OC Chefs Unite to Raise Funds for Maui Relief
In response to the recent fires devastating Maui, a group of compassionate Orange County chefs are uniting for a charitable cause. They are hosting a benefit dinner, named Malama Lahaina, at Crema Café in Seal Beach on Wednesday, September 6, starting at 6:30 p.m. The term "Malama," derived from Hawaiian, signifies the act of caring for and safeguarding.
The Malama Lahaina dinner will treat attendees to a gourmet experience featuring seven courses thoughtfully paired with five wines. Leading this culinary endeavor are prominent Orange County chefs and restaurateurs:
- Yvon Goetz — The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar
- Dean Kim — OC Baking Co.
- Dee Nguyen — Stay-at-Home Papa Dee
- Amar Santana — Vaca & Broadway
- Rainer Schwarz — Driftwood Kitchen, Deck on Laguna & Hendrix
- Tarit Tanjasiri — Crema Artisan Bakers & Crema Café
- Allan Tea — Cali Dumpling
The generosity doesn't stop there. Tanaka Farms will contribute all the produce, Grande Cheese will provide a selection of cheeses, and Sysco Los Angeles will ensure the highest-quality proteins for this exclusive 50-seat dinner. Additional support comes from wine donations by Ken & Donna Barasch and Terrace Hill Olive Oil.
Tickets for Malama Lahaina are in high demand, and this exceptional pop-up dinner is priced at $250 per guest. The entire ticket amount will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, administered by the Hawai'i Community Foundation, to provide vital assistance to those in need.
Tickets may be purchased online at eventbrite.com.
Crema Café is at 322 Main Street in Seal Beach.
