Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak Coming to OC
James Beard award-winning Chef Michael Mina announced plans to open his internationally recognized steakhouse Bourbon Steak at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point in February 2018. It will replace Stonehill Tavern, which will serve its last meal the evening of December 31.
Bourbon Steak is known for its modern, seasonal take on the classic steakhouse, a timeless dining experience with a twist and cutting-edge beverage program. Luxurious cuts of prime meat will be cooked in Chef Mina’s signature style, first poached in butter, and then finished on the grill. Ingredients will be sourced from local farmers and purveyors, highlighting the best of the region.
Signature dishes on the menu include the World Wide Wagyu featuring Japanese A5 striploin, American skirt steak and Australian short rib; Michael’s Lobster Pot Pie with locally-sourced lobster, brandied lobster cream, hamakua mushrooms and black truffle; Trio of Duck Fat Fries; Truffle Mac n’ Cheese; and Beignets with Macallan Scotch Pot de Crème.
Additional menu items will highlight the local ingredients such as avocados, strawberries, Weiser farm melons, County Line greens, Tenbrink heirloom tomatoes, Catalina spiny lobster, sea urchin, Sea of Cortez oysters, scallops, abalone from Cayucos, heritage pork and jidori chicken.
The beverage program will feature a robust library of American and Japanese whiskies including the Japanese Whisky Ceremony; a cocktail program that will highlight classic cocktails and modern punches; and a vintage collection of Bordeaux, Burgundy and California cult classics.
This will be MINA Group’s first Orange County location and sixth Bourbon Steak, with restaurants in Los Angeles, Miami, Santa Clara, Scottsdale and Washington, D.C.
