Oceanfront Dining at Driftwood Kitchen

June 10, 2014

Oceanfront dining options just got even better now that Driftwood Kitchen will be opening on Tuesday, June 17 in the former Beach House spot in Laguna Beach.

The same team behind The Deck on Laguna Beach and Fireside Tavern in Costa Mesa, transformed the former Beach House with breathtaking ocean views into a new dining experience featuring the freshest and finest seafood, steaks and hand-shucked oysters, alongside handcrafted cocktails in the Stateroom Bar to complement Chef Rainer Schwarz’ menu of ocean-inspired offerings, the new 20-seat Stateroom Bar will feature classic cocktails with an emphasis on fine bourbons and whiskeys artfully and creatively crafted. The bar is also the former home library of old Hollywood character actor, Slim Summerville.

Guests can also dine in the patio furnished with oversized couches and fire pits for evening dining.

Chef Rainer’s menu will feature innovative dishes including the following:

Octopus “a la Plancha” Taco / Mexican wild shrimp / jicama-cilantro / avocado mousse / tomato-pineapple chutney
Soft-Shell Crab / buttermilk fried / green papaya slaw / spicy papaya seed dipping sauce
Whole Fried Branzino (serves 1) or Texas Redfish (serves 2-4) / mochiko rice flour / julienne vegetable / roasted shishito peppers / ponzu sauce
“Surf & Turf” Maine Lobster Tail and Petite Tenderloin / R&R Ranch Washington USDA Prime / Yukan Gold mashed / Zuckerman Farms jumbo asparagus / sauce béarnaise
2 ½ Pound Maine Lobster Entrée / Yukan Gold mashed / Zuckerman Farms jumbo asparagus / drawn butter
