Be Still, My Waffling Heart

The quintessential gourmet waffle eatery, Bruxie, is opening its fifth location today at 8 a.m. in Huntington Beach. The restaurant has a loyal following of fans regularly craving Bruxie’s savory and sweet gourmet waffle sandwiches since its flagship location debuted three years in Old Towne Orange.

The Huntington Beach Bruxie is at The Strand on 5th, one block from Main and Pacific Coast Highway; and in early May its first Bruxie Streetside, a walk-up window, will be open from 7 a.m. for shakes, floats, desserts and beverages.

At Bruxie, you can order original takes on authentic Belgian waffles, such as our favorite (pictured above) the prosciutto and gruyere Bruxie with fried egg and arugula; as well as salads; sip on locally produced old-fashioned cane sugar sodas; enjoy real Wisconsin frozen custard, shakes, sundaes and floats. Bruxie proudly serves Peet’s Coffee & Tea, and menu items are $10 or less.

Daily specials can include Carolina BBQ Pulled Pork, Braised Beef Short Rib and Philly Cheesesteak Bruxie, you can find out specific details at Bruxie.com.

Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sunday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Musical Estate in Coto de Caza


The stunning House of Design showcase estate where design benefits music programs for kids is open today through May 19 at Coto de Caza. The Orange County Philharmonic Society House of Design is the result of top interior designers from Orange County and Los Angeles who worked nonstop to transform this 7,100 sq. ft. home into a Tuscan like villa.

Proceeds from the annual fundraiser will go to Philharmonic Society Youth Music Education Programs. The home, on more than 2 acres in Coto de Caza’s equestrian estates, feature 5 bedrooms, five fireplaces, Venetian wall finishes, a temperature controlled wine cellar and more. 

Tickets are on sale, for general admission at $40, or house pass (unlimited entry) at $50.

Tours are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Meet the Designers; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
