GREENLEAF GOURMET OPENS IN COSTA MESA!

April 24, 2012

By Sheryll Alexander We are super excited about the opening of Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop in Costa Mesa on Monday, Apr. 30. Why? Because we tried out this “gourmet salad” eatery on a family getaway to Beverly Hills last fall and we fell in love with this fast, casual, fresh, relaxed and über organic eating joint. But perhaps we are more excited about the location (because it just happens to be in our neighborhood!). It seems Greenleaf Gourmet has taken a “natural health center” (aka massage parlor) on bustling 17th Street and is hopefully transforming this garden-like plaza into something cool…

DINE AROUND DOWNTOWN BREA!

March 29, 2012

Review by Sheryll Alexander We love anything resembling what Europeans call an “urban pedestrian center” in OC, which can be a rather dull suburban waste land when you drive past mini malls and freeways all day long. So, we were excited about walking and dining around Downtown Brea. We recently made a day trip to Downtown Brea into a girlfriend getaway with gal pals gathering in this North Orange County town from Costa Mesa, Norwalk and Brea itself. Plus, we brought the kid to see if Downtown Brea was truly a friendly place for wee folk. To make it even…

GREEN SPRING CLEANING!

March 28, 2012

By Sheryll Alexander We love using green products in the kitchen and all around the house, especially for spring cleaning. This year, why not take a hands-on class in a private Laguna home with a mother of five who specializes in all things natural? Chelle Goodfriend, whom we have known for years as a caring health educator and top notch herbalist, is also a clinical aromatherapist and owner of Gaia's Garden Bath & Botanica, which offers organic, handmade, pampering and nourishing soaps and body care goodies. Now she is bringing her vast knowledge of all things natural to these private…

SEES FOR SPRING!

March 18, 2012

Review by Sheryll Alexander Today is the first day of spring, so it’s time to think about a trip to See’s Candies for some delectable seasonal chocolates. We recently tested some of See’s newest creations and we were quite pleased with these tasty treats. First, we tried the new Orange Cream Lollypops ($5.35 for an eight-count box). How good are these creamy orange pops? “They taste like a rainbow hit your taste buds,” so says my young daughter. We also fell in love with the limited edition Easter assortment in a brightly-colored wooden box ($12.65 for 11 oz.), which includes…
