DEEMER’S DELIGHTS!

July 16, 2012

We recently went vegetarian, so a visit to hip new burger joint Deemer’s American Grill in Laguna Niguel seemed unlikely to turn out well. However, our family visit to Deemer’s ended up being a delightful experience rather than a disappointment. Owner and chef Kevin Deemer had a great idea: build a contemporary burger joint based on classic American diner fare. Somehow, Deemer really did it. Not only is the industrial-meets-natural décor casual and yet upscale, but everything on the menu is made from scratch using fresh, local ingredients. Deemer’s is definitely a meat lover’s paradise. Each day, certified Angus beef,…

BRING ON THE BOUILLABASSE!

July 10, 2012

We love France and we love South Coast Plaza’s Marché Moderne, so what better way to celebrate Bastille Day than by savoring a true Marseillaise-style bouillabaisse. Served for only eight nights (from July 12-19), this celebrated seafood stew from the South of France really does feature fish caught off the coast of Nice, Marseilles and Toulon and air-shipped to the restaurant for next day delivery. Eat Out and Help Out

June 25, 2012

A local foodie’s favorite spot in downtown Brea, Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen, is giving back to the community today through Thursday with a charity event to help a local single mom, named Linda, who is in need of financial help while fighting both cancer and heart failure. Her story touched the heart of Cha Cha’s co-owners Don Myers and Peter Serantoni, who found out that she had lost her job and is living in a local hotel with her girls. The restaurant will offer a “Giveback Menu” featuring three-courses for $24.95. Ten dollars from every sale of this menu will…

New Menu at Crow Bar and Kitchen

June 03, 2012

The Crow Bar and Kitchen in Corona del Mar just announced their new menu by James Beard nominated chef John Cuevas. The menu is a pleasure to read. It not only features their famous burgers but also gives history of the importance of local farms, and their beer list is hard to put down. For example, their guest keg Stone’s More Black than Brown IPA reads deep brown, a bit hazy, with tan foam, a powerful hop blend. Modest body with lingering bitter, drying end hints of roasted malt/chocolate. After reading that, how can you not want to wash down…
