In a perfect way to celebrate Black Heritage Month, Ron McCurdy and his Quartet will take the stage at Irvine Barclay Theatre on Feb. 27, joined by a 55-piece orchestra from Pacific Symphony and performing while set to the poetry of Langston Hughes. “The Langston Hughes Project” is an homage to the struggle for artistic and social freedom at the beginning of the 1960s.It’s a multimedia concert performance of the poet’s jazz poem suite titled, Ask Your Mama: Twelve Moods for Jazz.
