“The Things We Tell Ourselves”
Irvine native Victoria Namkung’s debut novel, “The Things We Tell Ourselves” was just released and it’s a juicy beach read that's part-untraditional love story, part-psychological thriller.
There are several scenes set in Laguna Beach (the protagonist is a grad of UC Irvine) and you can meet Namkung and attend a book signing at Environment Furniture at SOCO in Costa Mesa on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 5-7 p.m.
Namkung’s novel focuses on the damage that one generation can inflict on the next and the things we tell ourselves to justify our desires and compromises.
Before focusing on writing fiction, Namkung was a widely published fashion, celebrity, and lifestyle journalist for more than a decade. Her work can be found in the LA Times, Style.com, C magazine, USA Today, InStyle, and Los Angeles Confidential among others. She currently writes essays, blogs for the Huffington Post, and serves as a cultural commentator.
The complimentary event will take place at Environment at SOCO Collection, 3315 Hyland Ave., Suite F, Costa Mesa.
Books will be available on-site for purchase and light bites will be provided. To attend the book signing, RSVP to hello@standardtimepress.com.
