The 53rd Sawdust Art Festival

June 27, 2019

Sawdust Art Festival’s 53rd summer event runs daily from Friday, June 28, through Sunday, September 1, and features the art and craftsmanship of 200 Laguna Beach artists and makers, three stages of live music, roaming entertainment, festival art workshops for all ages, and special events including an annual art auction and fashion show.

We're giving away two family four packs of tickets (two adults and two kids). Simply follow @sawdustartfestival and @dailydoseoc and leave a comment on @dailydoseoc. We'll choose a winner on Monday, July 1.

Media includes hand-blown and fused glass, painting, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodcraft and metal sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more.

What sets it apart from other art shows is the requirement for Sawdust artists to demo their artistic trade daily before the public, with the encouragement to answer questions and interact.

Over the course of the 66-day summer festival, three stages feature over 200 musicians and bands in a range of rock, folk, country, reggae, classical and more. Each stage showcases 2-3 bands per day, with ongoing sets in tandem from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Roaming entertainment includes balloon artistry, a magician, guitarists, and sometimes mimes or dancers. Occasionally, Sawdust hosts dance and musical performances by schools around Southern California.

On select evenings there will be Spoken Word, a collaboration of poetry with entrancing music. You never know what you’re going to find or who you’ll discover during the summer show.

Festival Classes: With nine weeks of art and craft classes throughout the summer, Sawdust is packed with an inspiring line-up of fun activities for creative minds of all ages. Some of Sawdust’s most popular offerings are hands-on experiences that will broaden your horizons, dirty your hands, and spark your imagination. Parents and kids alike can find themselves making art and sitting at the potter’s wheel, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Seven various art projects are offered every day during the festival and most are free. Children’s Art Spot, Studio One and the Ceramic Center feature the following classes: pottery wheel/ceramics, watercolor and acrylic painting, collage and mixed media, printmaking, textiles and leatherwork, crafts, illustration, jewelry, and more. Children’s Art Spot is geared for ages 4 to 7 and Studio One has classes for those 7 to adult, while the Ceramic Center is open to all ages.
