Music Power!
Newport Beach-based Coalition Duchenne presents Music Power at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. featuring incredible OC bands and musicians who have performed with Santana, Alicia Keyes, Jordin Sparks, Ne Yo, Jonas Brothers, U2 and more to raise awareness for Duchenne is progressive muscle wasting disease that affects boys--one in 3,500 worldwide are diagnosed. It is often fatal by age 20.
Dusty Brandom, the 18-year-old son of Coalition Duchenne founder Catherine Jayasuriya, is hosting the event. Brandom was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at age 10 and has inspired musicians to join in the cause, including his younger brother’s band, Final Crush; Kings Road featuring Terry Lawless; and Michael Ubaldini, who the Los Angeles Times said is "better than Springsteen at probing the national soul."
Brandom works tirelessly to raise awareness for Duchenne—he visited President Obama at the White House thanks to Orange County Chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation to share his story about Duchenne. Jayasuriya founded Coalition Duchenne last year to raise global awareness for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, to fund research and to find a cure.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online. Galaxy Theater is at 3503 S. Harbor Blvd. in Santa Ana. 714.957.0060.
