Join the 2nd Annual Free Helmet Giveaway at The Shops at Mission Viejo

May 17, 2023

The Shops at Mission Viejo is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated 2nd Annual Free Helmet Giveaway, in partnership with Providence Mission Hospital. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at The Shops at Mission Viejo, specifically in the Center Court on Level 1, near Old Navy.

This event aims to promote safe bike riding among children aged two to seventeen. In an effort to reduce bike-related injuries, Providence Mission Hospital's trauma team will generously distribute 500 multi-sport black helmets to children attending the event, while supplies last.

With the increasing popularity of e-bikes, it's crucial to ensure that riders, especially children, have the necessary safety equipment. The alarming rise in e-bike injuries, as evidenced by a 240% increase in children treated at Providence Mission Hospital in 2022 alone, highlights the importance of promoting safe biking practices. The Free Helmet Giveaway event offers an opportunity for parents to equip their children with properly fitted helmets, significantly reducing the risk of serious head injuries.

To further enhance safety awareness, Mission Viejo Police Services and the Laguna Beach Police Department will be present at the event. Their representatives will provide valuable education on e-bike rules and regulations, helping parents and children understand the importance of following safety guidelines. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe biking environment within the community.

Parents are strongly encouraged to bring their children to the event to take advantage of the professional helmet fittings. Ensuring the helmet fits correctly is vital for optimum protection..
