Citizen Kitchen, Chef Zach Geerson’s Masterpiece

October 11, 2016

Hotel Fullerton, of all places, is home to an incredible restaurant and lounge well worth seeking out. At Citizen Kitchen, you’ll be treated to an innovative menu created by executive chef Zach Geerson, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, formerly at Tempo Urban Kitchen in Brea.

Chef Geerson focuses on the simple artistry of food. He says the avante garde phase is over, and that people don't want to guess what's on their plate anymore. His menu is super simple, seasonally-inspired and the new fall menu will not leave you wondering what you’re ordering.

Everything is divided into simple categories: Bar Snacks, From the Fryer, Things We Like to Call Salads (we recommend the butternut squash with oven-dried tomato, olive pistachio, grape, arugula and EVOO; Bruschetta (the mushroom, bacon and sage bruschetta is to die for); Chef’s Favorites (get the fried chicken with bacon, brussels sprouts, fennel and hot honey); Cheese and Charcuterie Plates; From the Brick Oven (pizzas! we loved the chorizo and pumpkin and the ham and cheese with parmesan cream, serrano ham and burrata).

Sandwiches (you must order the Boring Burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar, brioche bun and Stout ketchup); A Little Bigger (we recommend the roast jidori chicken with cauliflower, brussels sprouts and jus). Something Sweet desserts are insanely good, we recommend the baklava like you’ve never tried before, with puff pastry, nuts and citrus.

This Friday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. would be a great time to experience, Citizen Kitchen. Chef Geerson is planning a spectacular wine dinner featuring wines from the wine making family of Antinori—26 generations and 630 years of history found in every glass of their estate grown wines. The dinner is $89, plus tax and gratuity. RSVP at 714.635.9000.

Open for lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner 4 to 10 p.m. daily. Happy hour is from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Hotel Fullerton is at 1500 S. Raymond Avenue in Fullerton. 714.635.9000.
