Zimzala Restaurant & Bar at Shorebreak Hotel, one of our favorite hip and casual spots in Huntington Beach, is debuting daily themed happy hours from 3 to 7 p.m. through summer.

Look forward to Mojito Mondays, Tequila Tuesday, Wine Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday,  Fusion Friday, Sparkling Saturday, and Saving Sunday. And if you can’t make it in early, go to the reverse happy hour Friday and Saturday nights with food and drink specials  served from 10 to 11 p.m.

Zimzala specializes in traditional American favorites--it’s too difficult to name our top choices—but know that Chef Roy Hendrickson will take good care of your taste buds. You won’t be disappointed with the three cheese flatbread with mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, roasted mushrooms and truffle oil; baby-back ribs with sweet and spicy bbq sauce, grilled white corn on the cob, smashed yukon potato puree; or the grilled sirloin burger with gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, buttermilk roll, housemade pickles and parmesan-garlic fries.

Zimzala also sports the best in surf-inspired, casual décor reflecting the Huntington Beach lifestyle. Sit at their communal dining table for an opportunity to meet new friends.

Open for brunch, 7 .am. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Open for dinner, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Bar & Lounge is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Tokyo String Quartet at Japan OC

Tokyo String QuartetNow more than ever, Japan is in our hearts. And Japan OC, the festival celebrating Japanese and Japanese-American arts and culture, rings even more significance. Japan OC continues with the award-winning Tokyo String Quartet performing on Tuesday, April 19 at 8 p.m. at Samueli Theater.

For more than 40 years, the Tokyo String Quartet has dazzled audiences and critics alike, earning the reputation as one of the world’s highest regarded chamber ensembles. The evening features a tribute to Toru Takemitsu with a special performance of Takemitsu: A Way A Lone. Other pieces performed include Mozart: Quartet No. 15 in D minor; and Beethoven: String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132.
