Luckily for Laguna Beach, one woman did crazy research to hunt down the best in non-toxic cosmetics and brought them into one new shop, Roots The Beauty Underground. Owner Laura Linsenmeyer says many big-name beauty products have “mind blowing toxicity,” yet there’s a whole other world of lesser-known products that are non-toxic and high performance. “They’re just not plastered in magazines,” says Linsenmeyer. “I find privately owned companies making non-toxic beauty lines. In an industrial area of Newport Beach, of all places you’ll find an urban micro-winery, called  Orange Coast Winery that’s quickly becoming a  local hot spot with wines, foods such as flatbread and cheese platters, and arriving soon beer from Wiens Brewing Company. Orange Coast Winery is from the same family owned Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula.  Winemaker Doug Wiens was named “Winemaker of the Year” in Riverside County and at Orange Coast Winery he’s creating blends and sourcing wine from Paso Robles, Napa, Sonoma and Lodi. Shopping for wine, beer and spirits just became more modern and engaging at the new Total Wine & More in Laguna Hills and Huntington Beach. Both stores just rolled out its, “next-generation” concept, while the other Orange County stores are expected to add new technologies in 2013.
