“The Endless Summer” at Salt Creek Beach

August 19, 2016

The iconic surf poster from “The Endless Summer” started as a photograph taken at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. And, on Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m. you can watch a free screening of Bruce Brown’s “The Endless Summer” surf film where it all began.

Invite your friends and family, bring a blanket or low-back chair, pack a picnic and enjoy this iconic and family-friendly film. “The Endless Summer” will start around sunset at 7:30 p.m. Since it is an outdoor event, it’s best to wear warm clothing. The free movie screening is open to the public of all ages. Parking will be free after 5 p.m. Visit ocparks.com for more details.

This free screening coincides with an exhibit, The Endless Summer Collection that OC Parks is hosting on the film at the Old Orange County Courthouse until October 31. The exhibit includes over 100 items from “The Endless Summer” including Bruce Brown’s cameras, tape recorder, projectors, Robert August’s passport, matching trunks and jacket, original photos and sketches, and foreign and domestic movie posters. Admission is free.

Salt Creek Beach Park is at 33333 S. Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point.

Open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Old Orange County Courthouse is at 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa Ana. 714.973.6607.
