Celebrate The Lunar New Year at The District at Tustin Legacy
The District at Tustin Legacy will kick off the Year of the Rat with an afternoon of festivities to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Beginning at noon Saturday, Jan. 25, the first 500 guests will receive a lucky red envelope containing a crisp $1 bill, a tradition that symbolizes good fortune for the coming year.
Highlights of the event will also include lively lion dance performances at 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., along with Taiko drummers at 12:45 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., plus roaming stilt walkers and plenty of kid-friendly activities including body glitter art and balloon twisters.
The lion dancers will begin their spirited performances outside Union Market Tustin and make their way toward AMC Tustin 14, stopping along the way to “gobble up” lucky red envelopes from participating shops and stores – and any families that want to join in on the interactive lion dance action, too.
Keep those smartphones and cameras ready for a festive photo backdrop, too, complete with fun photo props such as lion heads. Children can also enjoy several Lunar New Year-themed activity stations, including watercolor painting, color-your-own rat and create-your-own paper rat crafts, along with body glitter art and a balloon twister. The entire event is free to the public.
Event festivities will take place in The Promenade near Union Market Tustin. The lucky red envelopes will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis and be limited to one envelope per person.
The District at Tustin Legacy is at 2437 Park Ave. in Tustin. 714.259.9090.
