Spring into Health at Tanaka Farms

March 17, 2015

If you haven’t already discovered Tanaka Farms in Irvine, you’re going to want to know all about it. It’s an organic farm with roots in Japan dating back to 1940. It’s a great place to take kids or families to take tours or stop by for local produce.

They host strawberry tours (March-June) and watermelon tours (July-August) and a festive pumpkin patch (September-October). They also have a produce stand open daily where you can purchase Tanaka’s bounty as well as other local produce. Tanaka participates in the CSA program so that you can order boxes of fresh produce each week, or every other week.

Tanaka’s famed strawberry tours will start up daily on Thursday, March 19 through Friday, July 3. You can ride on a tractor around the farm, taste different fruits and vegetables, and then pick your own strawberries and take a basket home.

The strawberry tour will be suspended for one day, on Saturday, March 21 for Tanaka’s Spring into Health day. You can take a tour of the farm, sample delicious vegetables, visit  booths such as yoga instructors, chiropractors, strength trainers, juicers, and more, who can help you to achieve health goals. Pre-registration is required.  The price is $5 per person and children 12 and under are free.  You can choose either session, from 10 a.m. to noon REGISTER HERE  or noon to 2 p.m. REGISTER HERE.

Open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tanaka Farms is at 5380 3/4 University Drive in Irvine.
