Small-Batch, Chef-Driven Ice Cream Opened at Downtown Disney
Salt & Straw just opened its first Orange County scoop shop at the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim. The family-run ice cream company known for its taste-provoking flavors offers flavors that uniquely capture the spirit of classic Americana.
Founded in 2011 by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek in Portland, Oregon, Salt & Straw has become a West Coast favorite with scoop shops in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, in addition to its soft-serve dessert bar, Wiz Bang Bar, in Portland. Each of head ice cream maker Tyler Malek’s inspired flavors is handmade in small batches using the best local, organic and sustainable ingredients, including cream from Scott Brothers Dairy, a family-owned farm in Southern California. Special offerings will be available seasonally, showcasing Tyler’s passion for working with local produce and artisanal products.
Classic Disney Flavors include Pots of Gold & Rainbows, Dandelion Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies & Cream (v, Gf), Freckled Mint TCHO-colate Chip (v, Gf), Roasted Strawberry Coconut (v, Gf), Black Olive Brittle & Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese, Sightglass Coffee Cashew Praline, Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Honey Lavender, Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Double Fold Vanilla, Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons.
Special monthly offerings showcase that passion with flavors rooted in seasonality. In October, Salt & Straw’s classic line-up will be complemented by Tyler’s Spooktacular series with flavors such as The Great Candycopia and Candied Pumpkin Potion that celebrate the Halloween season. Guests can enjoy scoops on handmade waffle cones, with hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles, as well as pick up pints and cones to-go.
The community focus is echoed in Salt & Straw’s dedication to supporting local schools and raising awareness for issues such as childhood hunger and equal rights. With the Downtown Disney location, Salt & Straw will expand this ongoing commitment to its new Orange County community.
