Sidecar Opens, Stumptown’s in Town

April 11, 2013

The wait is over. Sidecar Doughnuts on E. 17th Street in Costa Mesa opens today at 7 a.m. The buzz on Sidecar is huge; they make artisan doughnuts and are bringing Stumptown Coffee to Orange County, so we expect they will sell out quickly. When the doughnuts are gone, the doors close for the day.

Expect to choose from six doughnut flavors every day, such as lemon poppy seed, pumpkin spice, Devil's food, bitrthday cake, banana Nutella, and two additional specials changing weekly, Sidecar’s doughnuts are made of yeast-raised cake, and they offer buttermilk old-fashioned varieties, with extras like seasonal fruit, artisan chocolate, and bacon.

Sidecar will also feature a different Stumptown roast each month to best compliment the doughnut flavors being offered. And all of its espresso drinks will use Stumptown’s renowned Hair Bender Espresso.

Sidecar was created by Brooke Des Prez and Sumter Pendergrast who are making a doughnut shop with a creative flair like no other. Pendergrast wanted a special place with cutting-edge coffee, and after meeting chef Des Prez, he knew her artisan doughnuts would be the perfect complement to this coffee centric meeting place. De Prez will regularly create delicious new doughnut flavors and treats.
