Santa Ana Sites + Irvine Barclay Theatre Present DakhaBrakha

May 06, 2016

Internationally acclaimed folk-punk quartet DakhaBrakha will perform on Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m., at the historic Yost Theater for a concert presented by Santa Ana Sites in association with Irvine Barclay Theatre.

Both organizations are proud to welcome DakhaBrakha to downtown Santa Ana, where the multi-instrumentalists will channel the time-honored sounds of their homeland into a modern, reinvented form of Eastern European roots rock.

Based out of Kiev, the Ukrainian musicians have received rave reviews from Rolling Stone and NPR for their riveting sound. Their full-bodied harmonies and skilled instrumentation are spiked with off-kilter chants and syncopated drumbeats—it makes for an unforgettable experience for all. DakhaBrakha incorporates free spirited harmonies, cello, djembe, didgeridoo, accordion and drums.

The versatile group was grown out of an underground, avant-garde theater troupe based in Kiev, and blossomed into a globetrotting act performing at prestigious music festivals including Bonnaroo, globalFEST, and Rosklide.

Tickets for DakhaBrakha cost $18 presale and $22 at the door.

Yost Theater, 307 N. Spurgeon St. in Santa Ana.
