OC Weekend: A Pink Tie Affair

Angel Stadium’s lush green outfield transforms into an inspirational pink haven as it plays host to the fifth annual Komen Pink Tie Ball Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. benefiting the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  The black-tie affair brings supporters together of breast cancer awareness to make the commitment to help end breast cancer forever.

Enjoy dining in the outfield,  “Angels for Hope” opportunity drawing for prizes such as a watch donated by Black, Starr & Frost valued at $10,000 as well as 10 limited edition commemorative Angels’ 50th anniversary baseballs signed by Angel players, dancing, live entertainment and much more.

At the black tie affair you can also enjoy a pink carpet arrival and a sunset champagne reception with appetizers by Bluewater Grill on the stadium terrace. Dinner is catered by The White House of Anaheim, followed by live entertainment and dancing. Silent and live auctions will feature unique experiences and one-of-a-kind treasures, including an exclusive catered culinary adventure, a seven-night stay in Tuscany to explore the delights of Italy, seven nights at a castle in the south of France, a 30 minute ride for two aboard Goodyear blimp and the ultimate shopping adventure from Saks Fifth Avenue at South Coast Plaza.

Don't Tell Me I Can't!

Don't Tell Me I Can'tCatch a special screening of the documentary "Don't tell me I can't!" on Saturday from 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Regency South Coast Village Theatre in Santa Ana. The documentary follows five SoCal teams ages 10 to 18 competing in Destination Imagination, a live creative show that demonstrates the power of teamwork and unstoppable spirit.

The film tracks their exciting journey from Orange County to a global competition in Knoxville, TN that attracts more than 18,000 cheering fans. The teams demonstrate a blend of talents in creative problem solving, scientific research, theatre, fine arts, construction, improvisation, physics and social outreach. Each one has to think outside the box and remember the mantra “Don’t Tell Me I Can’t!”.
