Miracle of Mobility Gala at Segerstrom Concert Hall
Since 2001, Irvine-based humanitarian nonprofit Free Wheelchair Mission has produced and delivered more than one million wheelchairs -- free to people in need throughout the developing world.
This year the annual Miracle of Mobility Gala on Thursday, July 26 at Segerstrom Concert Hall celebrates the transforming gift of mobility with special guest Swati Dlamini Mandela, granddaughter of Nelson and Winnie Mandela and humanitarian activist. Ms. Mandela is a founding partner and managing director of Qunu Workforce and has dedicated her life to creating equality in the workforce for South Africans living with disabilities.
South Africa is one of the 93 countries that FWM works with to provide wheelchairs to those most in need. People with disabilities in developing countries have very few options and resources and are often left to crawl on the ground. This hinders their ability to go to school, work and lead a life of independence. Receiving a wheelchair is a life-changing event for the person in need, their family, and the community.
For just $80, a wheelchair can be bought and delivered to change a life forever. Last year alone, Miracle of Mobility guests raised $1.5 million, sending nearly 19,000 wheelchairs to those in need. The event includes a reception with international cuisine stations, silent auctions and dessert and coffee reception to follow program.
Tickets are $175 per person and are available here.
Segerstrom Concert Hall is at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa
