Food and Drink to Cure Your Stresses
The Cure in Huntington Beach is a new California-inspired Asian restaurant and bar created by Ngan Nguyen, born and raised in Vietnam.
Ngan Nguyen, known as Mashi, came to the U.S. at 17 all by herself. A graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Nguyen has worked in the service and event industry but missed a human connection, so she opened The Cure.
The Cure is her home, and the customers are her guests. She wishes to use food and drink to cure their stresses away.
She's on a mission to replicate the fresh food and ingredients she remembers from Vietnam. She also wanted to bring her love for fresh Farmer's market fare to Huntington Beach. She built a kitchen crew with experience in kitchens including Acabar in Hollywood; Double Standard Kitchenetta in San Diego; Crow BaR Kitchen in Corona Del Mar; Starfish in Laguna Beach; R10 Social Lounge in Redondo Beach; Tortilla Jo’s in Anaheim; and Vegan Nirvana in Huntington Beach.
The Cure offers appetizers, solo plates, and family style share plates with Southeast Asian influences.
Signature dishes include 5-Spice Baby Back Ribs, Udon & Cheese, and an incredible Whole Crispy Fish with sizzling soy dressing. We also highly recommend the blistered green beans with prikh khing, lime juice, roasted peanuts and radish, sweet chili potato fried with chili oil, roasted peanuts, verde aioli, and ketchup; the delicious cure cold noodle salad with jap-chae, market lettuce, veggies, sweet soy glaze, seaweed salad and sesame seeds. All produce is picked at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market. They also offer a large selection of cocktails to go with the food.
Open noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; noon to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Social Hour is offered daily from 2 to 7 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. Appetizers are only $3 to $7; Special Cocktails are only $9; and Local Brewed Beers are just $5.
