Spin Your Gears to True Food!

April 22, 2011

In support of Earth Day, why not do something fun for awareness of a greener future, plus enjoy tasty local and regional foods? From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., True Food Kitchen at Fashion Island rewards guests who bike it to the restaurant with a free appetizer or dessert. Just bring in this coupon today, here’s a link: limit one item per guest per coupon.

True Food Kitchen is already on the right track for environmental awareness. Dr. Andrew Weil, best-selling author and health-guru, oversees the globally inspired, seasonal menu that’s focused on locally sourced, organic and sustainable ingredients, and offers vegan and gluten free options too.

True Food also just added delicious new dishes that bring the best in spring vegetables, and for fish, halibut to the table. New items include our favorite spring chopped salad with snap peas, strawberries, walnuts, goat cheese and balsamic; a must try roasted asparagus pizza with smoked mozzarella, red onion and marjoram; a grass fed bison burger (pictured above) with umami mushroom and onions, mayo and parmesan on a flax bun; and delicious halibut street tacos with avocado, cotija cheese, tomatillo salsa, sour cream and pickled onion.

Now for dessert lovers, and for those who rode their bikes, try the new almond olive oil cake served with fresh blackberries and Greek yogurt; or the strawberry rhubarb crisp served with dairy-free pistachio ice cream. But we have to say we’d do just about anything for our favorite flourless chocolate cake that’s always on the menu, served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce—to die for.
