Free Movie Mondays kicks off this summer on Monday at Segerstrom Center with the screening of “Billy Elliot” the story about an English coal miner’s son who dreams of being a ballet dancer. On Monday, July 16, watch the classic “An American in Paris” with its famed score by George and Ira Gershwin and starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” screens on July 23; “Yentl”  directed, co-written, co-produced, and starring Barbra Streisand screens on July 30; and “The Music Man” an audience favorite screens on August 6. Costa Mesa residents out shopping for fireworks can support their favorite organizations by buying from fundraising stands for schools, sports and foundations through Wednesday, July 4. Here is the entire list of Costa Mesa Fireworks stands. Fireworks are sold from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. They can be lit from 4 to 10 p.m. today through July 4.

Summer Cinema

A fantastic new artsy summer film series debuts Thursday at sunset at the Orange County Museum of Art thanks to Cinema Orange. All films will be screened on the museum patio and are free with admission and to museum members.
