Newport Beach-based Coalition Duchenne presents Music Power at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. featuring incredible OC bands and musicians who have performed with Santana, Alicia Keyes, Jordin Sparks, Ne Yo, Jonas Brothers, U2 and more to raise awareness for Duchenne is progressive muscle wasting disease that affects boys--one in 3,500 worldwide are diagnosed. It is often fatal by age 20. Dusty Brandom, the 18-year-old son of Coalition Duchenne founder Catherine Jayasuriya, is hosting the event. CHOC Follies!

Here’s your chance to perform live on stage while raising funds for Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Auditions for CHOC Follies are underway Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. CHOC Follies 15th annual original musical is called “Christina and the Crystal Ball, a Cinderella Story for the Social Net Set.” It’s a modern spoof on the classic fairy tale. You can help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. On Sunday, Nov. 6,  I will be walking at UC Irvine along with more than 5,000 people in Orange County and a half million nationwide to raise funding for research in the fight against type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is not caused by obesity, overeating or a lack of exercise; it is an autoimmune disease that can strike anyone at anytime.
