We recently went vegetarian, so a visit to hip new burger joint Deemer’s American Grill in Laguna Niguel seemed unlikely to turn out well. However, our family visit to Deemer’s ended up being a delightful experience rather than a disappointment. Owner and chef Kevin Deemer had a great idea: build a contemporary burger joint based on classic American diner fare. Somehow, Deemer really did it. We love France and we love South Coast Plaza’s Marché Moderne, so what better way to celebrate Bastille Day than by savoring a true Marseillaise-style bouillabaisse. Served for only eight nights (from July 12-19), this celebrated seafood stew from the South of France really does feature fish caught off the coast of Nice, Marseilles and Toulon and air-shipped to the restaurant for next day delivery.
