The 17th Annual SeaChange Summer Party
Oceana, the world's largest advocacy organization dedicated to ocean conservation, is hosting its 17th annual SeaChange Summer Party on Saturday, August 17th. The event will feature award-winning actor, advocate, and Oceana Board Member Ted Danson as the Master of Ceremonies and will honor SeaChange co-founder and Chair Emerita Valarie Van Cleave. Musical guest singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb will perform hits including “Stay (I Missed You),” celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party has raised nearly $20 million to support the organization's crucial work in ensuring a healthy ocean for future generations.
Over the past 20 years, Oceana has successfully addressed global challenges such as overfishing, habitat destruction, and pollution. In California, the organization has secured protections to prevent whales and turtles from becoming entangled in fishing gear, safeguarded deep-sea corals and seafloor habitats, and enacted legislation addressing plastic pollution at its source. With oceans covering 70% of the planet, ocean health is vital to addressing pressing global issues, from climate change to food insecurity.
The 17th annual SeaChange Summer Party is co-chaired by Oceana Board Member Elizabeth Wahler and Gabe Serrato-Buelna. The event kicks off with a Blue Carpet reception from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
