Taste of Fall

Indulge in small plates prepared by talented chefs focused on sustainable dining, as well as live music, signature cocktails, craft beer, and wine at a “Taste of Fall” tonight from 7 to 10 p.m. at OC Mart Mix in Costa Mesa. All dishes will be made with local, organic, and seasonal ingredients. Participating restaurants include Avanti Cafe in Costa Mesa; 370 Common Laguna Beach, Memphis Cafe Santa Ana and Costa Mesa; Sage in Newport Beach; Scott’s Restaurant & Bar in Costa Mesa; Nirvana Grille  in Laguna Beach and Mission Viejo; Slapfish in Huntington Beach; Avocado Cafe in Newport Beach; Primal Alchemy  in Long Beach; Anais + in Costa Mesa; Wildcraft in Costa Mesa; Haute Cakes  in Newport Beach; in  Au NatuRaw  Santa Ana.

Tickets cost $65 per person and include food, two drinks of your choice, and entertainment. Proceeds benefit benefit Ecofficiency.Org, OC Food Access Coalition, and the culinary program at Santa Ana’s Valley High School. The OC Mart Mix is at 3303 Hyland Avenue in Costa Mesa. SoCal Restaurant Podcast

Foodies tune in, or subscribe to the podcast of the new weekend radio show “The SoCal Restaurant Show” on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. on AM 830 KLAA. The 90-min. broadcast is hosted by Chef Jet Tila, who opened the famed Pan-Asian restaurant, Wazuzu at Steve Wynn’s luxury Encore Resort in Las Vegas. Tila’s no stranger to the limelight, he has also appeared on Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” and battled Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto on “Iron Chef America.” 

The lively culinary show will feature local restaurants and entertaining interviews with celebrity chefs. Tila’s newest culinary venture is The Charleston in Santa Monica, a gastrolounge serving his take on American comfort food such as buttermilk brined fried chicken and Belgian waffles maple syrup at brunch, and pork belly bao buns with classic cocktails. On Saturday, tune in at 10:30 a.m. to listen to guests, founder/chef Zov Karamardian of Zov’s Bistro & Bakery, and Barbara Fairchild, former editor Bon Appetit.
