Paper Lantern, The Quick-Casual Dumpling Shop

October 17, 2017

Dumpling enthusiasts can satisfy their cravings at the new Paper Lantern at Diamond Jamboree Plaza in Irvine. The modern dumpling house serves handmade xiao long bao and traditional Chinese comfort food favorites in a casual setting. The straightforward menu features eight (8) types of dumplings, including steamed pork, chicken, pork + prawn and veggie XLBs, as well as their specialty black truffle XLBs. Pan-fried dumplings will come with either fillings of pork, chicken + cabbage, or veggie.

Paper Lantern also serves a range of classic favorites such as scallion pancakes, beef wrap, spicy wontons, pork belly bowl, sesame noodles and more.

Paper Lantern is the latest venture from Allan Tea (Hello Kitty Café Pop Up Container, Hello Kitty Café Food Truck, Capital Seafood Restaurant Group), who’s partnered with the team behind Los Angeles’ acclaimed Mama Lu’s Dumpling House. And, Tea has assembled his dumpling dream team by tapping the culinary talents of veterans from Din Tai Fung and Sugarfish – the goal is to grow the concept into a multi-unit chain.

In addition to the usual trio of dumpling condiments such as soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil, Paper Lantern also offers its own housemade dipping sauce.

Open 11 a.m. to midnight Monday to Friday; 10 a.m. to midnight 10 a.m. to midnight.

Paper Lantern is next to Shinhan Bank, across from Ajisen Ramen at 2730 Alton Pkwy, C- 101, in Irvine. 949.784.8064.
