Irvine Welcomes TAPS Fish House & Brewery

June 08, 2015

Today, TAPS Fish House & Brewery is celebrating its newest location at The Market Place in Irvine. The popular Taps Fish House & Brewery is known for its generous portions, incredible Sunday brunch, fresh seafood, hand-cut steaks, award-winning traditional and innovative ales and lagers, as well as a wine aficionado’s wine list.

The restaurant owned by founder Joe Manzella, first debuted in Brea Downtown in 1999 and in 2007, Manzella opened a second location at The Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona.

Despite its expansive size spanning 10,000 square-feet, TAPS in Irvine features a cozier feel than its other locations with distressed black wood accents, vintage style lights fixtures and black and white photos and sketches from local artists. Some of the highlights include private wine lockers, a cigar friendly patio, an oyster-charcuterie station, exhibition kitchen, main dining area with TAPS’ signature 18-foot-high ceilings and impressive barn doors to the private dining room with a stone fireplace.

It’s the first TAPS location to boast a J & R “Little Red Smokehouse” smoker considered the Rolls Royce of smokers from Mesquite, Texas fueled by apple and cherry woods. (It’s similar to the popular smoker used at sister restaurant Lillie’s Q in Brea.) You can enjoy smoked prime rib nightly, as well as smoked fish offerings include trout, albacore, salmon, mussels and oysters at TAPS’ famous over-the-top Sunday buffet brunch.

Pizza enthusiasts can enjoy TAPS’ pizzas with artisanal toppings hand crafted from special dough and baked in a Wood Stone Fire Deck pizza oven.

On the menu, you can order TAPS’ classics such as miso-marinated Chilean sea bass, drunken mahi mahi and cioppino, the Irvine location offers whole roasted branzino (Mediterranean sea bass). Opah (Hawaiian moonfish) and char siu short ribs (Cantonese style barbecue pork) will be prepared sous vide.

Manzella’s commitment to tableside service is continued with an expanded lineup of shrimp cocktail, sizzling Japanese hamachi, “smoking gun” beef carpaccio, Caesar salad for two, and Cobb and Veracruz lunch salads made or finished in front of guests. Desserts prepared at the table include TAPS’ liquid nitrogen ice cream sundae for two and crème brûlée.

Open 11a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

TAPS is at 13390 Jamboree Rd. at The Market Place in Irvine. 714.619.0404.
