Hilton Anaheim launches ‘Young at Art’ Exhibit w/ Art from OC High Schoolers
Orange County's largest hotel, Hilton Anaheim, has just launched the second installment of their Canvas Conversations art series. Titled "Young at Art," this exhibit will run through September 3rd and showcases work by talented young artists aged 13-18 from Orange County.
In collaboration with the Orange Community Arts Guild (OCAG), the series aims to enhance the guest experience at Hilton Anaheim by immersing visitors in local culture. The artworks, including paintings, sculptures, digital art, mixed media, and more, will be displayed throughout the hotel.
Curator and local artist Britt Samuels, who brought this concept to Hilton Anaheim, aims to celebrate Anaheim's vibrant culture and offer travelers a window into the community's soul, with each piece telling a unique story. Samuels, who wished for similar opportunities when he was younger, believes young artists deserve the chance to showcase their work. The OCAG selects these young artists' pieces through a "Call for Art" process.
The artists that will be showcased include:
- Chloe Suos: Located in Santa Ana, Suos has been working in digital arts for several years and has a talent for cartoon-like portraits, taking inspiration from modern media such as comic books
- Keely Zamora: A local Mexican-American artist, Zamora enjoys experimenting with color, mixed media, and surrealistic ideas to make meaningful creations and often contributes to fundraising events with her artistic abilities
- Kylie Valerio: A recent graduate from El Modena High School, Valerio loves using mediums such as clay and acrylic painting to portray her own life experiences and recent media
- Lily VanDerHoek: Incoming freshman at El Modena High School, VanDerHoek is heavily influenced by music in her art and loves to create using markers, paints, and oil pastels
