Behold the Boozy Milkshake and Gourmet Burger

September 08, 2015

With a life-size signature neon-pink cow statue greeting guests, and boozy, frosted milkshakes served alongside gourmet burgers comes the new Las Vegas based Holsteins Shakes and Buns Orange County. It just opened within Bloomingdale’s at South Coast Plaza, in the former Charlie Palmer restaurant space.

Holsteins Shakes and Buns is the first California location for the contemporary burger concept that offers innovative burgers, small bites, entrées, salads and its signature “Bamboozled” shakes plus an extensive beer selection.

Holsteins’ signature items include The Gold Standard – a dry-aged beef sirloin burger with smoked bacon, aged goat cheddar cheese, tomato confit, baby arugula and garlic-chive aioli; The Perfect Turkey Burger– a juicy turkey burger topped with gruyere cheese, turkey bacon, onion marmalade, tomato confit, herb mayo, frisee and its special “Udder Sauce”; and a Porter-Braised Short Rib – tender beef short ribs with truffle potato puree, served with IPA-battered onion rings.

Small bites and salads include “Philly” Egg Rolls –filled with Philly cheese steak, caramelized onion and topped with special “Udder Sauce”; Artichoke ‘Guac’ – a ‘gauc-like’ hummus, with artichokes, olives and piquillo peppers, served with tortilla chips; and Poutine featuring a generous base of french fries, topped with cheese curds, shredded short rib and stout gravy.

From the famed Bamboozled shake selection choose from Campfire S’mores Bamboozled Shake made with Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow vodka, chocolate marshmallow and graham cracker crumble; Fruity Vegan – featuring coconut sorbet, raspberries, SKYY Raspberry Vodka, Three Olives Coconut vodka, toasted coconut marshmallow and soy whipped topping; and a Cereal Bowl 2.0 –a riff on Holsteins’ classic “Cereal Bowl” shake with Three Olives Loopy vodka, Fruit Loops and Captain Crunch

Extensive beer selection include local, regional and national craft breweries such as Stone IPA, Deschutes Inversion, Lagunitas Lil Sumpin, Lost Coast Tangerine, Green Flash Hop Head Red, North Coast Old Rasputin, Murphy’s Irish Stout and many more, plus more than a dozen beers on draft.

The restaurant décor features nostalgic pop art from local artists, rustic, leather-tufted booths with matching banquettes and red leather accent chairs and multiple flat-screen TVs.

Open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
