It’s time to make your dining arrangements and prepare for ten days of gourmet specials at Newport Beach Restaurant Week kicking off Friday, Jan. 18 to Sunday, Jan. 27. More than 70 of Newport's finest restaurants will be offering special three-course prix-fixe gourmet menus at bargain prices of $10, $15 or $20 for lunch and $20, $30 or $40 for dinner. Most participating restaurants will offer a minimum of three offerings per course. Reservations are recommended. Happy 25th Wahoo’s!

It’s hard to believe, it’s already been 25 years since Wahoo’s Fish Taco opened its flagship restaurant on Placentia Avenue, on the Westside of Costa Mesa. Today it boasts more than 60 locations in California, Colorado, Texas, Hawaii, New York, Nebraska and Nevada. More recently, 10 Wahoo’s have added full bars including Fashion Island and Huntington Beach. The good people at the Crosby in downtown Santa Ana just opened the much anticipated comfort food stand: The Grilled Cheese Spot in Santa Ana. This is grilled cheese nirvana, and a starting point from The Crosby’s famous Starving Artist grilled cheese sandwich with gruyere and balsamic mushrooms. Blackmarket Bakery Opens in Costa Mesa

Orange County just got a lot sweeter. Blackmarket Bakery, an Orange County institution since 2004, known for its homespun bakery items made from real ingredients, such as butter, flour, sugar and eggs (all blackmarket goods during WWII) just opened its second location at the Camp in Costa Mesa.
