The Orange County Register’s new owner and publisher, Aaron Kushner is giving local non-profits a very generous gift. He’s pledging $12.4 million worth of free advertising to local nonprofits to be chosen by the paper's readers. The Register is mailing all of its subscribers gold envelopes with a marketing check.  Readers can endorse it to the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of their choice, and send it back to the newspaper. The Register will then award the total marketing dollar credit to each charity for use to promote their mission, their events or to fundraise in the Register.
