The Casino San Clemente pays homage to its golden days as a dance hall thanks to headliner The DownTown Band, presented by Laid Black Entertainment, performing on Friday, August 2 with a Motown tribute. The renowned band plays frequently at Cooks Chapel in Anaheim and will be bringing several star vocalists to enliven their premier show on the Casino’s historic stage. Wild & Scenic Film Festival

The 2nd Annual Orange Coast Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival is being held in Costa Mesa on Saturday, August 3 offering a full day of this year’s best short films focused on timely environmental topics. They’ve expanded the event to feature a Saturday mid-morning children’s film festival for families followed by two showings—late afternoon and evening—of films geared to adult festival goers. Chef John Park of Toast Gives Time, Talent & Funds to Bracken’s Kitchen

Chef John Park of Toast Kitchen + Bakery in Costa Mesa volunteered today to cook for those in need at Bracken’s Kitchen in Garden Grove. John and his team from Toast made Thai Chile Chilaquiles with chicken (instead of pork), thai chili salsa verde, hibiscus pickled onion, beans, queso freso, and sous vide egg from his brunch menu. They also made delicious oatmeal cookies. The day of volunteering is the culmination of Toast’s partnership to help Bracken's mission. LA Opera invites you to experience the culmination of Summer Opera Camp where students will perform Then I Stood Up: A Civil Rights Cycle on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 1 pm. and 4 p.m. shows. A beautiful and especially meaningful production features stories of social justice through lessons of World War II's Terezin concentration camps and Japanese internment camps, and the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
