You can take part in University of California Irvine’s Festival of Discovery on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will offer exciting and educational interactive programs as part of the university’s 50th anniversary celebration. The free festival will showcase the solution-based work of UCI researchers who are solving global issues in energy, healthcare and medicine. And it will include entertainment, a morning 5K and Fun Run, gourmet food trucks and more. With a “Discovery Pass” festivalgoers can visit interdisciplinary themed pavilions, including Health + Wellness, Ingenuity + Innovation, Local + Global Impact and Arts + Culture. …

Little Sparrow Flies High With New Chef

No one wants to see a great chef leave a restaurant, especially one who made a huge mark in such a short time, but a few months ago, Little Sparrow’s chef Eric Samaniego was let go.
