When I first heard the words, "We're making changes at the newspaper and you're not part of the change" I was so blindsided that I didn't know what to do. Life had already changed dramatically two weeks prior, when one of my four sons was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes---a life threatening and invisible disease, without a cure. The Lido House, a Newport Beach Boutique Hotel is Underway

The latest development adding to the revitalization of the Balboa Peninsula, is the 130-room Lido House, a much anticipated boutique hotel spanning more than four acres on the former Newport Beach City Hall site. It’s expected to be completed in summer of 2017. Lido House will feature 130 luxury guestrooms, including two signature circular suites – each located in the Pavilion tower and an expansive presidential suite, as well as five residential-style, three-story cottages. The Hottest New Coffee in OC

The hottest coffee shop to open in OC in years is Philz Coffee, a San Francisco-based coffee shop with a cult following now at Pacific City in Huntington Beach. What sets Philz Coffee apart from the rest is that Philz doesn’t make lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, or pre-brews—only more than 20 customized blends made one cup at a time. There’s no doubt chef Zov Karamardian is a treasure in Orange County. She runs six restaurants and bakeries in Tustin, Anaheim, Irvine, John Wayne Airport and Newport Coast, specializing in her award-winning Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Armenian cuisine.
