OC Weekend: Let’s Take a Tour!

Help fund an extraordinary array of music education programs for children just by taking a tour of “Maison de la Mer,” a new French-inspired estate in Newport Coast. The project is a collaboration of premiere designers from LA to OC who worked for months to showcase their design talents for the 2011 Philharmonic House of Design benefiting he Philharmonic Society Youth Music Education. The home is open for public tours Tuesday through Sunday until March 27. It features a Golden Truffle café and boutique as well as opportunity prizes and lectures on select days. OC Fight Night!

Pro boxing, celebs and a sit-down dinner are what’s in store for you as "Fight Night" returns for the 13th year at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin Friday. The benefit will include auto racing legends Al Unser, Sr., a four-time Indy 500 winner, and Johnny Rutherford, known for his 27 Indy car victories. Joining the racing duo will be actor Tommy “Tiny” Lister, best known for his roles in “The Dark Knight,” “Jackie Brown” and “The Fifth Element.” Guests can enjoy Mardi Gras-themed festivities, a sit-down dinner and French Quarter-vibe sipping bar. Crow Bar Goes Green!

Congratulations to the Crow Bar & Kitchen in Corona del Mar for taking a green initiative. The Green Restaurant Assn. just certified Crow Bar, an upscale gastropub, as the first “green restaurant” in Orange County. Not only does the Crow Bar boast a James Beard award-winning Executive Chef John Cuevas (formerly with the Montage Hotel & Resort in Laguna Beach), but it uses local and sustainable ingredients in its inventive pub foods. Other markers for making this certification include the banning of Styrofoam, to-go packages are biodegradeable and made from recycled materials, and its Natura water system is environmentally friendly.…

Weekend: Fave Foodie Week in OC!

Foodies will love the return of Orange County Restaurant Week that’s launching Sunday through Saturday, March 5.  To keep it even more special, they capped off the restaurants this year to 100. Prix fixed menus will be set at $10, $15 and $20 per person for lunch, and $20, $30 or $40 per person for dinner. You can search for your favorite restaurant by city, and see the entire list here.
