¡DAMAS! Celebrating Women Creators

In recognition of National Women’s Month, ¡DAMAS! celebrates the creative voices of our community’s most talented and artistically influential women. On Saturday, March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Julianne and George Argyros Plaza women poets, painters, performers, and even a blacksmith will share their gifts and insights through exhibits, interactive booths, videos, demonstrations and a panel discussion about women and their creative process. The free event will be led by Sherwynn Umali, Associate Dean of Students at University of California.  600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa.

Craft Revolution at Orange County Center for Contemporary Art

Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) presents Craft Revolution showing through Saturday, March 23. Craft Revolution shows works with the unity of inspiration and skill philosophers call “craft.” The show includes drawings, paintings, collages, sculpture, ceramics, weavings, architectural plans and maquettes. There are even examples in interior design, furniture design, fashion design, photography, video, and installation art. The juror, Staci Steinberger, associate curator, Decorative Arts and Design at LACMA selected unusual, avant-garde, hybrid artworks that merge together elements of fine art and traditional crafts.
