Bartending for NB Film Festival

The Bungalow Restaurant in Corona del Mar is throwing a celebrity bartending night Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to benefit The Newport Beach Film Festival (April 22-29. Guest bartenders will include NB City Council members; Newport Beach Film Festival’s CEO Gregg Schwenk, co-founder Todd Quartararo, plus surprise athletes from the action sports world. All tips will go towards the Newport Beach Film Festival. The Bungalow Restaurant is at 2441 East Coast Highway in Corona Del Mar. 949.673.6585

As a mom of four boys, I definitely want to see the screening of a controversial new documentary, “Race to Nowhere: The Dark Side of America’s Achievement Culture” this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Studio at Sage Hill. “Race to Nowhere” chronicles the pressures American schoolchildren and their teachers face in our achievement-obsessed education system and culture. You read this here first (or most likely the LA Weekly) and this is BIG news: Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich are opening a Pizzeria Mozza in Newport Beach. This is thrilling news for die-hard fans of LA’s Pizzeria Mozza who think nothing of driving some 50 miles for incredible pizza; Sunday night’s superb lasagna; and out of this world white beans alla Toscana with extra virgin olive oil and saba.
