Dad: Master of the Grill!

Here’s a perfect gift for dad! He can finally master grilling, just by attending Cooking Techniques Class – BBQ 101 Saturday at 11 a.m. at Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdale’s (outside parking lot) at South Coast Plaza.

Chef Kim and the Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdale’s team will reveal step-by-step tips on how to select the correct meat cuts, make your own "burger grind" and create custom rubs and aromatic marinades. Plus there will be many invaluable grilling tips, and after class, Chef Kim will prepare a delectable, BBQ inspired 3-course lunch.  Cost is $75 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Toes on Summer!

Toes on the NoseToes on the Nose kicks off its first summer California Salt Sessions Tour Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Huntington Surf and Sport.

The Salt Sessions Tour will be traveling to various beach towns with surf sessions during the day, jam sessions at night, and then, requisite road tripping. The tour will include team riders Diina and Darren Eudaly and Lindsay Engle.

At the event, Toes on the Nose’s debuts its Salt Session collection, a collaboration of limited edition T-shirts from artist Sydney Hensler, as well as special musical performances by Summer Watson and Corey Adams.

Huntington Surf and Sport is at 300 Pacific Coast Hwy in Huntington Beach. Next stop on the tour’s list: Tuesday at Toes on the Nose Shop in Laguna Beach; Wednesday at Stewart Surfboards at San Clemente; and then down to San Diego county Thursday at Hansen’s Surf Shop in Encinatas; June 25, Bird Rock Surf Shop in La Jolla; and June 26, Sun Diego Boardshop in Carlsbad.

 

Rock It Today OC!

Music For A Cure's Rock It OCAttention emerging young musicians! Here’s your chance to show your stuff. The first Music For A Cure’s Rock It OC! a battle of the bands for kids is extending submissions to Monday.

Entrants can submit a home video performing one song and qualify to be one of four finalists to win a professional recording and music video! Young bands (members ages 5 to 17 years old) will play a 15-minute live set during the Rock It OC! concert Thursday, July 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at South Coast Plaza’s Garden Terrace.

What’s even better, the contest will raise money for Music for A Cure’s therapeutic music programs for critically ill children at children’s hospitals. Submit videos to events@musicforacure.org. All entries will be posted on YouTube, and finalists will be announced on June 24.
