The 17th annual Newport Beach Film Festival—a week of non-stop diverse films from around the world—kicks off Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Edwards Big Newport with the world premiere of “After the Reality,”
It tells the story of Scottie Olson who escapes to the dating reality TV show "Young Bucks" when his father become terminally ill. After his father's death, Scottie must quit the show and reunite at the family cabin with his estranged sister Kate, creating a funny and poignant story about loss, reality show romance, and a brother and sister’s love.
Immediately following the film, the opening night gala takes place at Fashion Island. The party features culinary tastings from 25 of Orange County’s premiere restaurants, including Fig & Olive, Cucina Enoteca, Sushi Roku, Ritz Prime Seafood, Selanne’s Steakhouse, Shuck Oyster Bar, Newport Rib Company, Iron Press, Crow Bar, Sweet Lady Jane, The Dessert Lab and ice c ream provided by Häagen-Dazs.
Guests can enjoy a hosted bar by Tito’s Vodka and Stella Artois Beer with a special performance from KÀ by Cirque du Soleil at MGM Grand Las Vegas.
The Newport Beach Film Festival runs through April 28, and showcases more than 350 films from 50 countries, nightly special events, red carpet galas, Q & A’s with filmmakers, international spotlight events and seminars. Here's a glimpse into this year's theme "We're Being Watched."
Tickets to the opening night screening and gala costs $225 each and are available at NewportBeachFilmFest. You can also purchase tickets to the Opening Night gala only for $175 each. Guests must be at least 21 years old and cocktail attire is suggested.
