Food enthusiasts can experience Savor Santa Ana, an epicurean event on Friday, Sept. 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring tastes from more than 40 acclaimed downtown Santa Ana restaurants and eateries.
Savor Santa Ana will be celebrating Mexican Independence Day, so there will be mariachis, farolitos (luminarias), a Grito contest, and Juan Gabriel karaoke. The Grito contest happens at 7 p.m. at 4th and Spurgeon and is free to enter. The signup list opens at 5 p.m.
Tasting Tickets cost $10 and gets you 5 tastes at any of 40 participating restaurants and eateries.
Taste highlights include Alta Baja Market offering Adovada Tacos, Frito Pies, Mera Mera Micheladas. Blackmarket Bakery offering Pumpkin Pie Tarts, Banana Split S’mores, and LemonLime Tarts. Eqeko offering Ceviche Aji Amarillo, Papa la Huancaina, and Quinoa Salad. Kiyomizu offering Basa Rice Bowls, Chunk N Chip, Chipotle Peach Ice Cream Sandwich with Honey Biscuit Cookies. Dos Chinos offering Curry Tacos.
Sit Low Pho offering Garlic Chicken Wings and Spring Rolls.Yojie Japanese Fondue offering Green Tea Chocolate Fondue Fountain. Irenia Restaurant offering Mani (Filipino Peanut Snack). Crave offering Kale Salad and Cookies. Downtown Donuts offering Mini Donuts. Starbucks on 4th offering secret menu Cafe de Olla and Chile Lattes. Robbin’s Nest offering Vegan Ceviche and wine tastings. Good Beer Company offering Craft Beer . Copper Door offering an XOXO Ice Cream Float Cocktail and a DTSA Float (nonalcoholic version); Jinny’s Pizzeria offering Meatballs; and 3 Pugs Bakery offering Chicken Salad; and Sweet Mission Cookie Company offering Cookies and Brownies.
The event also features an Instagram Food Photo Contest: tag your Savor photos on Instagram with #SavorSantaAna. The winner gets $50 and a photo repost to Downtown Santa Ana's 40,000 followers. There will be free trolley rides, music, exploring and craft beer and cocktails for the adults.

Tickets will also be available for purchase during Savor Santa Ana at two locations: East End: 4th and Spurgeon, and West End: 4th and Broadway. Ticket booths will open at 5 pm, and will be cash only.
