Cocktail & Bites at Hollywood Roosevelt
01.16.13
Need a reason visit to visit the Hollywood Roosevelt where you will be transported to a bygone era of glamour when Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe hailed? Now you can soak up the scene at one of Hollywood’s most famous lobbies while tasting a series of small plates from the Library Bar’s new lobby menu.
Executive Chef Tim Goodell from Public Kitchen & Bar debuted a new menu and a selection of handcrafted cocktails from the Library Bar. Highlights from menu include Library’s Burger with blue cheese, nueske’s bacon, bread + butter pickes, hand cut Kennebec fries ($16); Burrata with bagnet vert and cherry tomatoes ($13); Kale salad with currants, pancetta bread crumbs, garlic vinaigrette and pine nuts ($11); and Chicharrones with chili and lime ($8).
The mixologists comprised of Danvy Pham, Alex Frost, Chris Hewes and Matt Biancaniello serve drinks “Omakase-style,” with seasonal farmer’s market ingredients, as well as homemade foams and garnishes. The cocktail list from The Library Bar include Kind of Indigo: Cilantro, bell pepper, blackberry, mescal and ghost pepper salt ($16); Roquette: Plymouth gin, agave, arugula and lime ($16); Seriously dangerous: Tomato, basil, lemon, honey syrup and whiskey ($16); and Zelda Fitzgerald: Ginger, grapefruit, goslings rum, lime, luxardo and agave ($16).
The Library Bar lobby menu is available from 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Library Bar is open daily from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The Hollywood Roosevelt is at the epicenter of old Hollywood’s history, at the Walk of Fame, and just steps from Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Costa Rican Relaxation
12.26.12
If you’re anything like us, taking a trip to Costa Rica for adventures, relaxation and inspiration sounds like a dream come true. The founders of Chirripposa created complete, inclusive, holistic, Costa Rican retreats where in one trip you can stay at two diverse locations within the Chirripo Mountain, taking in the natural beauty of the tropical jungle, and then visiting the exotic, uncrowded beaches of the Osa Peninsula.
Chirripposa handles all details of your trip, including domestic travel arrangements, accommodations and meals. During your adventure, your hosts and your chef will provide a culinary experience featuring healthy, inspiring, delicious dishes, incorporating a wide selection of organic, locally sourced ingredients, fresh fish and ecologically selected poultry and meats.
You can fill your days with activities in beautiful locations such as hiking, paragliding, surfing, kayaking, canopy tours, river and nature walks, horseback riding, bird watching, tree climbing, waterfall rappelling and dolphin boat tours.
You can also take part in bodywork, spa treatments, yoga, martial arts and meditation.
Discover local attractions like the hot springs, botanical gardens, coffee plantations, waterfalls, Cloudridge Reserve, the Chirripo and Corcovado National Parks, a wildlife sanctuary, reptile park and much more.
The trip will begin with a stay overnight in San Jose, then traveling the next morning by private bus over the Continental Divide, with a stop for lunch in Canaán de Rivas, where you will spend your days in the mountains alongside the Chirripo River and National Park, with breathtaking views of mountain peaks and the San Isidro Valley.
After your stay, the second part of your adventure will begin with a drive cross country towards the Pacific Coast, around the 'Golfo Dulce', and on to the Osa Peninsula at the most southern tip of Costa Rica, where the virgin rainforest and Corcovado National Park meets the Pacific Ocean.
Leave the 'Osa' rested, rejuvenated and feeling serene and fly back to San Jose on an 18 seat privately chartered jet, where you will connect with your international flight.
