Trick or Treating at Mercantile West

On Friday, you can start your family’s Halloween fun early by trick-or-treating at Mercantile West at Ladera Ranch from 3 to 7 p.m.

Participating shops and restaurants at Mercantile West will offer special deals during the event, including a free orange crush smoothie at Nekter Juice Bar between 3 and 7 p.m. when kids 12 and under decorate a jack-o-lantern on a Nekter cup; Choya Japanese Cuisine will give free $10 gift cards to the first 10 costumed youngsters who come into the restaurant from 3 to 7 p.m., and the next 20 costumed kids will get a $5 gift card, while other visitors will get coupons when they mention the Halloween promotion; and many other special offers that can be found at www.shopdineladeraranch.com.

The Ladera Ranch shopping center is at 25612 Crown Valley Parkway in Ladera Ranch, at Antonio Parkway.

Veuve Clicquot Yelloween Ball at SeaLegs

The award winning SeaLegs Wine Bar in Huntington beach will be celebrating Halloween on Friday at 9 p.m. with a Veuve Clicquot Yelloween Masquerade Ball.

DJ Mike Soltani will provide beats for guests to dance the night away to, and a viral costume contest will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight. Attendees can enter the costume contest by hash-tagging selfies on social media of their Halloween costumes (scariest, sexiest, couple and vuevealicious selfies), while SeaLegs live monitors the selfie costume contest hashtags (#SEALEGSYELLOWEEN, #SEXIESTSELFIE, #SCARIESTSELFIE, #BESTVUEVESELFIE).

One winner per each category will be named at midnight and will receive a magnum of Veuve Clicquot.

Specials of the night will include:

$100 Ketel One bottles
