Anaheim’s Downtown Sounds

The revitalized Downtown Anaheim District at Center Street kicks off a homegrown musical experience Friday from 7 to 10 pm. with a special concert featuring the Chapman Stick in the Good Food Hall presented by Free Hands Academy. On hand will be Emmet Chapman, the inventor of the Chapman Stick, a type of guitar with ten or twelve individually tuned strings used to play bass lines, melody lines, and chords, as well as recognized great stick musicians: Steve Adelson, Tom Griesgraber, Gene Perry, Rob Martino and guest artist Gina Ferrera performing an evening of eclectic music.  Brother Yusef will play…

Spotlight on OC Music

Local music fans will love that the OC music scene is in the spotlight in a big way now through March 8. Musicians will be performing each Tuesday night at free shows throughout OC for the 2014 OC Music Awards Showcase Series. The next show starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa with free performances for 21 and over only. The lineup includes Gardeners Logic (8 p.m.), Midnight Hour (8:45 p.m.), FutureFix  (9:30 p.m.), Sonny Spectrum (10:15 p.m.) and Semi Sweet (11 p.m.).
