DINING FOR MUMMIES
The Bowers Museum is not just Orange County’s largest museum, a cultural landmark in Santa Ana, and one of the top fine-art museums in Southern California.
It also offers a popular restaurant, Tangata. run by famed restaurateur and chef Joachim Splichal of the Patina Group. Tangata opens for lunch Tuesdays through Sundays, and it’s also a great place for weddings and other special occasion.
And just for Halloween, Tangata hosts a special two-tiered evening, a North African dinner followed by Lantern Tour of the Mummies Exhibit on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The elaborate feast features four courses of Egyptian dishes and optional wine pairing with expert introductions by Executive Chef Greg Wieleand. To end the evening, there will be a ghoulish, lantern-lit tour of the mummies galleries led by Egyptologist Dr. Kara Cooney, who will captivate you with ancient Egyptian lore.
Tangata’s dinner is a perfect complement to the Bowers Museum incredible exhibit, "Mummies: Death and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt ... Treasures from the British Museum," a world-famous collection of mummies and funerary objects.
