PAGING BOOK LOVERS
The First Page children’s bookstore celebrates its second store grand opening today at the Newport Hills Center in Newport Beach with appearances today by two popular authors.
At 11 a.m., author Marie Torres Cimarusti ("Peek-A-Boooo!") will read, draw and entertain with her series of lift-the-flap, peek-a-boo stories. The day’s festivities include crafts, balloons, face painting, popcorn and more.
At 4 p.m., author Gail Carson Levine, best known for her book, "Ella Enchanted," will sign copies, read and answer questions about her latest book "Fairest."
The First Page features a first-rate selection of children’s literature, including classics and award-winning titles as well as lesser known and hard-to-find books from up-and-coming authors and independent publishers. Books are organized by grade levels.
The First Page has a friendly staff, excellent service and an inviting atmosphere ideal for young booklovers. Founder Christy Coyne and her associates individually pick each book for outstanding quality. Fun activities, delightful storytellers, and guest authors are announced in The First Page newsletter. Also the First Page Book Club offers discounts and other benefits.
Daily one-hour story times are ideal for children ages 1 to 7. And five percent of every purchase at the First Page is donated to each customer’s school of choice.

RUNNING START FOR WEEKEND
Road Runner Sports celebrates its grand opening this weekend of its new Laguna Hills store. It’s one of the largest specialty running catalogs and on-line outlets that’s expanding to retail. Road Runner Sports plans a Health and Fitness Fair on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m., and customers can enter to win a free pair of shoes through its "Perfect Fit" program.
